Just a few short months since the VERY fun demolition celebration at 1428 Brickell, the previous building has been cleared away and the path is now clear to begin construction on Miami’s first solar-powered skyscraper. The City of Miami has issued the site work permit to YTech so they can get started on their construction, according to The Next Miami.
The permit calls for nearly $2 million of work to take place, preparing the site for the foundation of 1428 Brickell’s foundation. This will be a large undertaking as the tower is slated to rise 70 stories into the skyline and bring 189 new residences.
One of my favorite aspects of this project is the use of photovoltaic panels on the west side of the building, harvesting the sunlight to use in powering the building’s amenities.
Additionally, the building’s design incorporates concrete load-bearing walls between each unit. This not only increases the energy efficiency of the units, it also protects against noise pollution from your neighbors and allows more options should you wish to customize your layout.
This is the most elegant use of energy efficient options I’ve ever seen, and will be the first-ever LEED Certified building in Miami’s urban core.
Prices range from $2.4 million for a two-bedroom plus den, to four-bedrooms plus den ranging from $5.5 million to $7 million. Lower penthouses start at $8 million with the spectacular $60 million penthouse that has 30-foot ceilings and unparalleled views and a private rooftop pool.
